Azores offers craftwork and regional products to the visitors on the World Tourism Day

The Azores hotel units are going to offer, on Saturday, to their guests, pieces of typical craftwork of the islands in which they are located and, in the tourism delegations and posts, the visitors will receive regional products.

The offer of memories of the Region makes part of the initiatives that the Government of the Azores promotes to mark the World Tourism Day that include, also, the fulfilment, on the Saturday in which it is celebrated the ephemerid, of street actions, namely folklore and tourist walks.

Along the whole day, in the S. Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Pico airports, a couple dressed with typical regional dress will distribute, on the other side, flowers to the passengers of flights of SATA International and of TAP.

In an allusive message to the celebrations, the leader of the Government of Carlos César for the tourism sector enhances the importance of the subject chosen for subject of the international commemorations, this year centred in Peru - “Tourism faces the challenge of the climacteric alterations”.

The regional director for Tourism refers, namely, to the “active role that the sector can and must fulfil at the level of the answers to the changes of the climate and reduction of the poverty”.

Quoting the secretary-general of the World Tourism Organization, Francesco Fragialli, Isabel Barata alerts for the need of “changing habits and of placing the renewable energy in the vanguard of the international answer”, stimulating the people in charge for the sector “to use new technologies that guarantee to the poorest countries the possibility of facing the challenge of the climatic alterations”.
