The Regional Director for Energy stressed today the importance of "enhancing the skills of technical staff and companies from different areas for energy efficiency" in order to increase the development of a low carbon economy based on "awareness and training."
 
"The Energy Efficiency Workshops are now created, being in line with the Meetings with Energy Efficiency. They are directed to Azorean professionals and aim to address the solutions emerging in the energy sector with more detailed and professionally-oriented contents by involving them and raising their awareness for innovative practices," stated Andreia Carreiro. She spoke in Ponta Delgada at the opening session of the first workshop.
 
This first edition, dedicated to the theme "Building Solutions: Glazing," focused on the quality of window installation works, being "one of the key but vulnerable elements in buildings," said the Regional Director.
 
"This workshop provided essential knowledge for industry professionals to ensure that the installed solutions are energy efficient, thus ensuring greater comfort for consumers as well as increased energy savings through better acoustic and thermal insulation," said the government official.
 
The course on "Installation of Efficient Windows under the Energy Labelling System for CLASS + Products" was also held with the same purpose. It provided trainees with CERTIF recognition, ensuring their integration into the stock of certified installers and better conditions in the access to incentive systems for the promotion of energy efficiency. As Andreia Carreiro stated, this course "allows them to position themselves in a competitive manner in the market so that they may better respond to new demands."
 
"As a result of the involvement of citizens in the development of the regional energy policy, we have been in the field and we have identified the relevance of promoting this and other courses to increase the quality of professional services provided to the population."
 
In this context, the Regional Directorate for Energy has been working in partnership with ADENE - Portuguese Energy Agency to continue "identifying training needs in the area and implement them in the Azores."
