Regional Director for Energy visited CENER – National Renewable Energy Centre in Spain
The Regional Director for Energy visited, following an invitation, the CENER - National Renewable Energy Centre in Spain which is located Navarre, Spain. It is one of the most renowned laboratories in the world in the field of renewable energy.
During the visit, the Regional Director had the opportunity to assess the organisation and operation of the centre as well as to become better acquainted with the testing and research conducted there, particularly with regard to wind turbines, solar, thermal and photovoltaic panels and biofuel.
According to the Regional Director for Energy “the visit was very productive and might promote the establishment of strategic partnerships between that laboratory and other regional bodies with an interest in renewable energy.”
According to him, “the CENER officials recognise the effort undertaken by the Azores in the promotion of skills and the creation of a dynamic research on renewable energies with special emphasis on the development of the Green Islands project, which is the result of partnership between the Regional Government, the University of the Azores and Portugal.”
