São Roque do Pico ,  July 04, 2014

Taste in Adegas "shows the best that is made" on Pico, says Hernâni Jorge

The Regional Director for the Environment highlighted today the relevance of initiatives such as the 2nd Taste in Adegas (winery), an itinerary designed to disseminate Pico wines, promote "wine growing" as well as the importance of its heritage.

The event was organised under the celebration programme of the 10th anniversary of the Classification of the Landscape of Pico Island Vineyard Culture as World Heritage. The Regional Director for the Environment emphasised the importance of showing visitors "the best that is done in local cuisine and wine production, especially if this happens "in the places where these products have been made (wineries) over time and from generation to generation."

"Wineries have always have been the visiting room of Pico islanders. We invite visitors to come to the winery and not to our houses. Indeed, this is the place where guests may enjoy wine, spirits and snacks," stressed Hernâni Jorge.

Taste in Adegas is organised by Adeliaçor in partnership with the Hotel and Tourism School. The initiative is supported by the Regional Government.

The itinerary through Pico's wineries will take place until Sunday and involves the participation of seven certified wine producers.
