“7 Natural Wonders of Portugal” ceremony promotes the Azores associated to nature tourism
Regardless the Azorean candidates, the “7 Natural Wonders of Portugal” ceremony justifies the commitment of the Regional Government in this event, as it will enhance the external visibility of the Azores, simultaneously promoting nature tourism which is one of the Region’s assets, said the Secretary for the Economy.
Vasco Cordeiro attended a press conference held in Sete Cidades on Wednesday to present the official ceremony of the “7 Natural Wonders of Portugal” which to take place at the Portas do Mar in Ponta Delgada in September.
The Regional Secretary for Economy pointed out, firstly, the fact that one cannot confuse the “7 Natural Wonders of Portugal” ceremony with the presence of five Azorean candidates. By associating this type of event with the Azorean region, the Government is clearly reinforcing the idea of the archipelago as an area closely linked to nature and the environment with great potentialities.
In this context, if there is a privileged region in the country for the organisation of the “7 Natural Wonders of Portugal” ceremony, the Azores is precisely that space as the archipelago is strongly connected to nature.
Vasco Cordeiro concluded that this initiative has been accepted by Tourism of the Azores since the beginning and meets all the conditions to achieve success.
