Vasco Cordeiro says that tackling the crisis is a collective task

Tackling the crisis is a collective task and, in the Azores, "we are struggling to get out of this storm and we will survive it with the help of all."

This was a message left "in time of hope" by the Regional Secretary for the Economy in Praia da Vitória on Thursday night during a Christmas dinner with the elderly of the D. Pedro V Elderly Home.
Vasco Cordeiro added that "special attention should be given to this task and this is particularly important for those who are in a most vulnerable situation."

The minister alluded to the life experience of the elderly of the D. Pedro V home to illustrate the capacity of the Azorean people to overcome difficult situations successfully.

"What I usually say is that we must learn with their life paths and take the necessary inspiration to over these moments," stressed Vasco Cordeiro, asking: "How many difficulties have they overcome throughout their lives? How many adversities have they faced throughout their lives? And here we are, the government official said, concluding that "we will overcome the present difficulties with the same faith and certainty."

Moreover, the Regional Secretary stressed the Regional Government's pleasure, apart from "the obligation and duty, to collaborate with an institution (D.Pedro V Home in this case) that has evidenced a careful management" of the available resources as well as "the dedication and service to the welfare of others.”

In this context, Vasco Cordeiro noted that the Regional Government has supported the renewal works of the old Court facilities, adjacent to the elderly home, in order to expand the capacity of this institution and announced the allocation of funds to start the renewal works of the building where the D. Pedro V Home is currently installed.
