Regional Secretary for the Economy is guest of honour of the Holy Spirit Festivities in New England
Following the invitation made by the Organising Commission, the Regional Secretary for the Economy will participate as guest of honour in the Holy Spirit Festivities in New England to take place next weekend in the city of Fall River, USA.
Vasco Cordeiro considers that these “are celebrations that are based on the hallmarks of religion and tradition of Azorean emigrants, but who have not forgotten their roots.”
Therefore, this is “a moment when Azorean emigrants coming from different places not only recall the Azores they left, but also the desire of return to a place that is on the path of modernisation and quality of life.”
The agenda of the Regional Secretary for the Economy includes the Blessing and Distributing of Offerings on Friday, the Ethnographic Parade and the “Bodo de Leite” at the Kennedy Park on Saturday, and the Solemn Mass and Procession on Sunday.
The closing dinner that brings together North American civil and ecclesiastical authorities, among others, will be held on Monday.
