Regional Secretariat for the Economy challenges North American businesspeople to know and invest in the Azores

The Regional Secretariat for the Economy, Vasco Cordeiro, challenged the businesspeople attending the conference “Business Opportunities in the Azores,” held at the Fall River Conference Center in the city of Fall River on Friday, to visit the Azores to “become better acquainted with their vast potentialities.”  This event is an organisation of the Agency for the Promotion of the Azores (APIA).
According to the Regional Secretariat for the Economy, “nowadays the Azores have an incentive system which is considered as an excellent support for all those wishing to invest in the Region,” particularly in the areas that have been developed over the last years, “such as the case of tourism, renewable energies and Sea affairs.”
Nearly fifty businesspeople from the state of Massachusetts, political officials and members of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) participated in the meeting held on Friday morning and attended a presentation made by the Chairman of APIA, Gualter Couto, on the available incentive scheme to promote investment in the Azores.
For Vasco Cordeiro, “the personalities who participated in this meeting demonstrate that the Azores have been developing their skills to attract investment,” as one may verify that the majority of the participants “already have a history of business success in this North American state.”
The fact that “there is an increasing interest in the Azores as well as in what they have to offer” is equally important, stressed the Regional Secretary.
Moreover, the Secretary reinforced, “we have registered an interesting reaction from the people who have sought us for further information either on the existing schemes or on the development strategies carried out by the Government of the Azores on all islands.”
Hence, “nowadays the modern Azores have grown and rose to prominence in several areas, being an asset for all businesspeople wishing to develop activities that will certainly enhance the development of all islands.”
For the Regional Secretary for the Economy, “the state of Massachusetts,” with which the Region has signed a twinning agreement in 2008 may also become “a basis for the promotion of the Azores” in other regions of the United States of America.
