Public call for tenders for 12-million Euro intervention in Madalena port was published
Following the guidelines of the Government of the Azores, the Administration of the Triangle and Western Group Ports, S.A. (APTO S.A.) launched today the public call for tenders for the contract work for the construction of port infrastructures and for the improvement of the shelter conditions of the Madalena Port, on Pico Island.
The contract work, with a total value of €12,500,000.00 and with a completion period of 30 months after its awarding, will renew the North protection breakwater, repairing the layer with a new supply of tetrapod blocks, in order to assure its stability. The intervention in the head of the breakwater will be more profound, with the full replacement of the current tetrapod layer by a new layer of antifer blocks, thus improving its stability.
A 130 m long breakwater, facing North, will be built at the Ponta do Areeiro in order to improve the roughness conditions inside the port basin.
The contract work, whose public call for tender has now been launched, is integrated in the wide investment of the Azorean Government, through the various port administrations, for the improvement of Regional port infrastructures, which has registered over the last four years more than 215 million Euros in contract works that have either been concluded or are still being executed.
