The Regional Secretary for the Economy, Vasco Cordeiro, considered on Graciosa today that local handicrafts may constitute a “good opportunity” to better use all the economic potentialities of that Island.
Visiting the students of a specific training course on embroidery techniques certified by the “Artezanato dos Açores” (Azorean Handicrafts) brand, which is taking place at the Santa Cruz Village Council, under the initiative of the Regional Centre for Handicrafts, Vasco Cordeiro mentioned that the Island of Graciosa “is going to accelerate its development with the coming in force of several infrastructures such as the new hotel”; hence, “handicrafts may benefit from the tourist sector, becoming an economic driving force.”
The Regional Secretary for the Economy assures that “the Government is always available to support this type of training courses, given that they are very important for the maintenance of our traditions.”
