Government prepares legislative reform for industry, trade and services

The Government of the Azores is preparing a profound legislative reform in the licensing scheme for the industrial and commercial activity and in the regulations which are currently in force for the “Empreende Jovem” (Young Entrepreneurs) programme.
The announcement of this Governmental intention was made today by the Regional Secretariat for the Economy at the audience with the recently elected board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada.
According to Vasco Cordeiro, these amendments will undertake a comprehensive reform of the necessary legal procedures for the licensing of industrial and commercial units as well as the revision of the legal scheme concerning the Catering sector.
Under the several changes to be implemented, the Azorean Government also expects to change the current legal scheme of mineral masses.
Furthermore, the reforms that are being prepared by the Government of the Azores and that will be discussed with the social partners, particularly with the entities representing the Azorean businesspeople and traders will provide, according to Vasco Cordeiro, a more rapid response to all the businesspeople who submit licensing requests.
