Government opens up land for tourist joint venture in zone included by the POOC of S. Jorge
The Government of the Azores decided to recognize the tourist joint venture “Aldeia da Urze” as of “relevant public interest”, opening up land for its introduction in a zone included by the Coastal Border Planning Plan (POOC) of the island of S. Jorge.
The joint decree of the regional secretariats for the Economy and for the Environment and the Sea, which formalizes the attribution of this statute, underlines that the joint venture at issue “will contribute for the diversification of the economical activities of S. Jorge”, through the growth of the tourist sector associated to the growth of the local hotel offer.
He still alleges the correlation between the “Aldeia da Urze” project and the activity of the teaching and vocational training establishments of the island, the impact of the joint venture in the creation of work posts specialized in the area of the hotel management and tourism and the promise of the promoting entity in “respecting the characteristic natural and cultural values of S. Jorge”.
