The conclusion of the process to renew the SATA Air Açores fleet “marks the beginning of a new phase” for the regional air company “with higher quality standards to assure the accomplishment of its goals,” stated the Regional Secretary for the Economy in Ponta Delgada on Thursday.
Vasco Cordeiro spoke during the christening ceremony of the new four Q400 aircrafts purchased by SATA and reminded that this process was undertaken the purpose of “allowing the company to become a mobility factor for the Azoreans, a reference of quality and efficient public service.”
The Regional Secretary for the Economy praised the manner how the renewal of the fleet took place “causing the least possible inconvenience to passengers.”
For Vasco Cordeiro, the goals towards a permanent improvement of quality and efficiency of the service rendered by SATA “are shared by the shareholder, which is the Region, the Board of Directors and by all workers; their accomplishment is not only dependent on the action undertaken by one intervener, requiring the commitment and dedication of all, particularly of workers and the Board of Directors.
The renewal of the SATA fleet represented an investment over 110 million Euros which replaced the ATP aircrafts for four Bombardier Q400 and two Bombardier Q200. The new aircrafts, in addition to assuring inter-island flight connections, will also make the flight connections between Funchal and Porto Santo as well as between the Azores, Algarve and the Canary Islands.
