Azores promoted at one of the largest restaurant chains in New England

The Azores will carry out one of the most important promotional campaigns ever in the United States of America, through the dissemination of the Azores destination and the promotion of Azorean products at the restaurant chain "Legal Sea Foods," one the largest restaurant chains of New England, with a monthly average of 500 thousand clients, announced the Regional Secretary for the Economy, Vasco Cordeiro.

This project, to be held between March 14 and April 11, was born after the visit of several members of the restaurants' staff to the Azores during 2011. In addition to preparing the Azores menu in partnership the Azores Hotel Training School, this initiative also aims to promote the Azores destination at restaurants and other promotional channels.
For this purpose, employees will receive training on the Azores, restaurant entrances will display several images depicting the archipelago and all customers will receive a promotional flyer containing information about the Azores destination. Legal Sea Foods will also advertise the Azores menu on the media and promote the Region in its blog.

For the Regional Secretary for the Economy "this project represents another example of the Government's commitment, through the Azores Tourism Association, SATA, Hotel School and Lotaçor, in addition to the direct participation of the Regional Secretariat for the Economy and Agriculture. It also represents an approach in the Region's promotion that not only enhances the tourism sector, but also other aspects that highlight the quality of the Azores destination."

Thus, Vasco Cordeiro added that "we intend to create a dynamic economy that that not only promotes tourism, but also the regional primary and secondary sectors." "In fact, the "Legal Sea Foods" project has immediate impact on the promotion of the Azores destination, but it also has an interesting potential for the future of animal production." The Regional Secretary added that "the Azores must continue their work to find strategic partners in restaurants and hotels as well as in gourmet speciality shops that might be interested in our quality products and, thus, becoming promotional agents of the Region and its economic dynamics."

According to the Regional Secretary for the Economy "the inclusion of the Region in these important circuits not only enhances this type of business, but also the coming of more demanding tourists, who will be willing to pay a higher price for a good quality and unique product."
