Azores are space of opportunities for foreign investors

The Regional Secretary for the Economy, Vasco Cordeiro, challenged on Monday the businesspeople attending an information session on “Business Opportunities in the Azores,” to visit the Azores and assess the best areas to carry out their investment projects. This initiative was organised by the Agency for the Promotion of Investment in the Azores (APIA) and was held in Winnipeg, Canada.
This type of trips, said the Regional Secretary for Economy, can be “an opportunity to become acquainted with the enormous potential that the islands offer today to all who wish to invest and, thus, contribute to the economic development of the archipelago.”
The Regional Secretary for Economy reminded that “the Azores have nowadays an incentive system that is considered an important aid to all who wish to carry out their investments in the Region,” particularly in areas that have experienced a large growth in recent years, “such as the case of tourism, the exploitation of renewable energies and issues related to maritime economy.”
During this meeting, which was presided over by the Regional Secretary for the Economy, the President of APIA, Gualter Couto, made a presentation on the available tools to support the investment in the Azores.
For the Regional Secretary for the Economy, “the number of participants in this meeting demonstrates the activity developed by the Azores to promote their ability to attract foreign investment,” as we can confirm “not only by this meeting held here in Winnipeg, but also by other events of this type, such as a meeting held last Friday in Toronto, or another held last August in Fall River.”
According to Vasco Cordeiro, “we should stress the growing interest in knowing the Azores and what they have to offer in various business opportunities.”
The Regional Secretary for the Economy pointed out “a very interesting reaction on the part of the people who come to us, requesting further information on the available tools as well as on the development strategies implemented by the Azorean Government on all islands.”
“Nowadays, the Azores are a modern Region that has been growing and establishing itself in the different areas future potential for the Region, such as the case of alternative energies,” stated the Regional Secretary.
For Vasco Cordeiro, this fact demonstrates that “the Azores can be positive feature for foreign businesspeople who wish to develop their activities in the Region.” “Hence, it will be beneficial for all: the businesspeople investing in the Azores will increase their activity and enhance their business, which, in turn, will boost the development of our islands.”
According to the Regional Secretary for the Economy, “our emigrant communities, and their businesspeople, or those who, having no ties with the Azores, wish to expand their business may also serve as a basis for the promotion of the Azores abroad.”
