Regional Government promotes "Young people, Europe, the future" multimedia contest

Students enrolled in regional secondary and vocational training schools may apply for the "Young people, Europe, the future" multimedia contest until April 24. The event is promoted by the Regional Government in the context of the "European Citizenship - Europe for Azoreans" programme and the celebrations of Europe Day celebrations, which will be marked on May 9.

This initiative aims to involve citizens and, in particular, young people in European affairs by encouraging young people to research and disseminate the impact of the European Union on the Azores, raising awareness for the importance of young people in the construction of Europe and promoting knowledge on the European Union.

Promoted by the Office of the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations, the contest will select the best work from each island of the archipelago as well as the three best works at regional level.

The best video will be broadcast by RTP/Açores on May 9 and its authors will be awarded a trip to Brussels, which includes a visit to European institutions and bodies, as well as 15 books for the school library.

Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd best works: 15 and 10 books, respectively, for the school library of the distinguished teams and an Interjovem card for all students participating in these teams. Moreover, there are also participation prizes to be awarded to all members (students and teacher) of the nine finalist teams, including a book and certificate of participation in the multimedia contest.

Finalist works, one for each island, will also be posted on the Regional Government Portal, on the Regional Government's YouTube channel and on the Facebook page "External Relations - Government of the Azores."

This contest is open young people up to the age of 20 by May 9, 2019, who are attending the 10th, 11th and 12th forms at regional secondary schools or equivalent levels at vocational training schools.

The teams are composed of three students who must be enrolled at the same school but may be in different classes or years. Each team will be accompanied by a teacher in charge for monitoring the work and activities carried out under the contest.

The works in competition will be presented in 16:9 format (PAL - European Video System) and should have a maximum length of two minutes. They must be submitted until April 26 to the email [email protected] (via www.wetransfer.com or www.dropbox.com).

The jury will be composed of five members, who will assess the works based on the adequacy to the theme, relevance of contents, pertinence of the message, visual impact, creativity and originality in addressing the theme.

The rules and additional information on the contest are available at all regional secondary and vocational training schools and on the Regional Government Portal at http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/entidades/srapre/textoImagem/Concurso+Multimédia+2019.
