Ten Azorean Schools will be visited in the coming days by the “UE PRO FUTURO” theatre project, which was extended to the Region under the Regional Government’s agenda for the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.
The initiative of Lisbon Art Centre “No Mundo da Lua” (Being Miles Away) will be on tour in the Region from May 11 to May 17, covering Faial, Terceira and São Miguel schools.
“UE PRO FUTURO” is a theatre project in which the actors Nuno Theias and Victor de Freitas take part, and it is also an exhibition as well as a puppet theatre.
This project intends to make students from elementary, middle and junior high school acquainted with the European Union and its construction project, mentioned the Office of the Under Secretary for the European Affairs and External Cooperation.
According to the Under Secretary, with the extension of this project to the Region, we accomplish another initiative under the European Year for Creativity and Innovation, being the Government’s goal to promote the participation and to raise civic awareness regarding the European Union in the most comprehensive way possible, especially amongst youngsters.
The theatre performances have started on Monday at the Biscoitos Basic Education School, Angra do Heroísmo Basic Education School and Santa Clara private school, and they will start on Faial Island on Wednesday at the Manuel de Arriaga Secondary School.
The theatre performances which are scheduled for Ponta Delgada will take place on Thursday and Friday at the Vila Franca do Campo Basic and Secondary School, Carvão Basic Education School, Canto da Maia Basic Education School, Ribeira Grande Secondary School, Nordeste Basic Education School and Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Ponta Delgada Vocational Training School.
An outdoor session addressed at the population will be held at the Portas do Mar on São Miguel Island on Saturday at 6 PM.
