Applications for internship at the Azores Office in Brussels open from January 1-19

According to the order published today by the Regional Assistant Secretary for External Relations in the Official Journal, the submission of applications for the internship at the Representation Office of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Brussels runs from January 1 to 19. The internship period begins on April 1.

With an initial length of three months, the internship may be extended for equal periods up to a maximum limit of nine months. It is directed to young graduates as well as to holders of Master's and Doctoral degrees, aged up to 30 years, who show interest and competence in European affairs.

The monthly grant, in the amount of 1,600 Euros, is a financial compensation intended to cover the costs of accommodation and meals during the internship period. In addition, the Government will also support the payment of insurance fees and a round trip air ticket from the student's residence to the country where the internship is taking place.

The criteria for selection of applicants will take into consideration the resume evaluation, the English/French language test, according to the applicant's choice, and the written test. The latter will assess fluency in Portuguese, critical sense and innovation, argumentative skills and knowledge on European matters.

In turn, the resume evaluation will consider academic qualifications, professional experience and professional training.

The programme is open to applicants up to the age of 30 at the beginning of internship period who have completed their secondary or university education in the Region. Applicants are required to hold a bachelor's, a master's or a doctoral degree.

These internships take place under the "Europe Training" programme, a Regional Government's initiative, with the aim of providing young people with the opportunity to undertake an internship in European bodies outside the national territory. The internships will enable them to acquire practical knowledge in a real working context in European institutions, namely in regional, interregional and Community institutions, as well as in Regional Government's departments or services in the European Union.

In 2020, two "Europe Internship" scholarships will be awarded for internships at the Representation Office of the Autonomous. Region of the Azores in Brussels.

Those who wish to obtain further information should contact the Office of the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations at the email [email protected] or by telephone 296 204 707.
