The Regional Under Secretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation, Rodrigo Oliveira, welcomed the Ambassador of Algeria in Lisbon, Fatiha Selman, on behalf of the President of the Government at the Conceição Palace on Wednesday afternoon. 
The Ambassador of Algeria, who entered into office in 2010, visited the Azores for the first time by occasion of the stopover of the Algerian training ship “Soummam 937” in Ponta Delgada.
The evolution and current state of the cooperation and commercial relations between Portugal and Algeria was addressed at the audience as well as the areas and issues of common interest for the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
At the occasion, Rodrigo Oliveira stressed that recently established flight connection between Lisbon and Algiers will an enhancing tool in the context of the bilateral relations between Portugal and Algeria, which will also establish a closer connection with the Azores.
