The Regional Department for the Communities organized the soirée “Words and Music”, which took place in Montreal and Toronto, between February 24 and 25.

This initiative was organized in partnership with the Departments of Literature and Portuguese Language of the Universities of Montreal and Toronto, and had the objective of presenting the following poets to the community: Eduardo Bettencourt Pinto, residing in Vancouver, and Luísa Ribeiro, residing on Terceira Island.

This soirée also aimed at the divulgation of Azorean literature to university students with knowledge in Portuguese Language, scholars and the whole Portuguese-Canadian Community, giving them the opportunity of knowing the life and work of these contemporary poets.

Simultaneously, some musicians accompanied the declamation of poetry with the interpretation of some music from the mainland and the Azores.
