The winners, accompanied by an employee from the Regional Department for the Communities, began their trip on August 5, in Rio de Janeiro, where they met Ana Martins, first edition’s winner.

In Rio de Janeiro, Fedra and Pedro visited “Cristo Rei” (Christ the Redeemer), “Pão de Açúcar”, Copacabana, Ipanema, as well as “Casa dos Açores”, where they were hosted by its president and had the opportunity to meet some of the members of its folklore group and sportive team.

On August 8, they left to Santa Catarina Island where they met their new hostesses, Franco Silva and Fabiano Santos, winners of last year’s edition. In this state, Fedra and Pedro visited several villages with a strong Azorean cultural influence.

Lagoa da Conceição, with its “bilro” and “crivo” lacemakers, Ribeirão da Ilha, Santa Catarina Federal University, several museums and “Casa dos Açores” were some of the places visited by Pedro and Fedra, always accompanied by the two winners of last year’s edition and by Leopoldo Alves, the president of “Casa dos Açores” in Santa Catarina.

On August 10, they left to Rio Grande do Sul, where they were hosted by Régis Gomes, the president of “Casa dos Açores” in Rio Grande do Sul.

In Rio Grande do Sul, the two winners visited some tourist attractions, as well as some villages with Azorean cultural influence, such as Santo Amaro, founded by Azoreans.

The two young winners returned to the Azores on August 13.

All the activities and visits in Brazil had the support of “Casas dos Açores” in Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
