The Regional Government, through the Regional Directorate for the Communities, granted last year approximately 260 thousand Euros to support 64 non-profit entities and individual promoters from the Region and the Diaspora.
This support is granted under protocols established in the areas of emigration returns, Azorean cultural identity, initiatives that contribute to the integration of Azorean emigrants and immigrants in the archipelago, the Azores/Communities relations and the dissemination of the Azores.
Regarding the support for emigrants/returnees, the amount granted to 13 social institutions aims to promote the full integration of Azorean emigrants in host societies as well as of the integration of those returning to the Azores in the context of the entities that make up the International Network of Social Intervention Organisations.
Likewise, entities dedicated to the teaching of Portuguese language and the promotion of the preservation and dissemination of Azorean identity are also covered by this support measure.
The support for cultural identity and the dissemination of the Azores includes the aid granted to the 14 Houses of the Azores, while the support for immigration is focused on regional entities that help with immigrants residing in the archipelago.
The support granted to applications submitted under the applicable legislation comprises several activities carried out by entities and individual promoters from the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Mainland Portugal, Brazil, United States of America, Canada and Bermuda.
The orders published today in the Official Journal contain a list of the entities supported by the Regional Directorate for the Communities in compliance with Law No. 64/2013 of August 27.
