Regional Director for Communities visits New England between August 28 and September 1

The Regional Director for Communities visits the Azorean communities living on the east coast of the USA between August 28 and September 1. During this visit, the government official will deliver an Azorean-themed book collection to a U.S. university and present the Holy Spirit Festivities Route, an initiative promoted by the Regional Government. In addition, he will also participate in the festivities that will be held in Fall River.

This visit to the communities in the Diaspora begins Friday, August 28, with the delivery of a book collection consisting of Azorean themes and authors offered by the Regional Government to the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. It includes more than three hundred books and about eighty CDs and DVDs.

On this first day, Paulo Teves will also attend the Entrance ceremony of the Holy Spirit Insignias, the Blessing of "Pensões" (charitable offerings) and their distribution. The event will be held at Kennedy Park, Fall River, and will be attended by Francisco José Senra de Faria Coelho, Assistant Bishop of Braga, and Edgar Moreira da Cunha, Bishop of Fall River.

On Saturday, the Regional Director for Communities will take part in the "Bodo de Leite" procession and in the ethnographic parade, which will travel the streets of the city towards the Kennedy Park. The day ends with the presentation of the Holy Spirit Festivities Route - Azores/Communities at the House of the Azores of New England.

Developed by the Regional Government, this initiative brings together various manifestations of the cult of the Holy Spirit in the archipelago as well as in the Diaspora communities.

On August 30, Sunday, the main day of the Holy Spirit Festivities of New England, Paulo Teves will attend the Solemn Coronation Mass at Santana Church and take part in the Coronation Procession, along with other guests, "mordomos" and several philharmonic bands.

On Monday, Paulo Teves will meet with the Mayor of Fall River, Sam Sutter, and will attend in the closing dinner of the Holy Spirit Festivities in the city of Swansea.
This visit to New England ends on September 1. On that day, the Regional Director for Communities will meet with the Mayors of New Bedford, Jonathan Mitchell, and Lowell, Rodney Elliott.
