Regional Director for Communities visits Canada between May 29 and 31

The Regional Director for Communities begins Friday a visit to Canada, where he will participate in the 23rd Meeting of North American Portuguese Teachers and hold meetings with the Azorean community and institutions in the city of Cambridge.

This year's edition of the Meeting of Portuguese teachers will be held under theme "Cooperating is Teaching." The initiative is promoted North American Portuguese Teachers Association (APPEUC) with the support of the Government of the Azores. It aims to provide the teachers who teach Portuguese on both countries with the new educational approaches, through a privileged space designed to analyse and the debate the differences of teaching Portuguese in the U.S. and Canadian educational systems.

On the first day of this trip to Canada, Paulo Teves will attend the opening session of this meeting and also visit the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Cambridge City Hall.
On May 30, the Regional Director will meet with the Portuguese Club of Cambridge and the Azorean community residing in that city in the province of Ontario.

On the following day, Paulo Teves will attend the closing session of the 23th Meeting of North American Portuguese Teachers and will participate in the Holy Spirit Festivities of “Império Mariense” in Cambridge, one of the oldest Holy Spirit "impérios" celebrated in Canada; it was founded by emigrants from Santa Maria in 1972.
