The regional director for Communities, Alzira Silva, presides on Tuesday, in Horta, to the public presentation of the Portal of the Azorean Communities (www.comunidadesacorianas.org.).
The ceremony, which will reckon with the presence of scholars of several national and foreign universities, happens in the Conference Room of the Horta Hotel, at 17 o’clock.
With this project, the Regional Directorate for Communities, in partnership with different accredited universities, intends to make easy the union of Azoreans, their descendants and scholars of being Azorean in the whole World.
In this new Portal it will be possible to find academic studies in several areas, namely on literature, culture, heritage and other integrant subjects of the Azorean identity in the World.
In the same day, from 9.30 o’clock, there will have place, equally in the Horta Hotel, a conference subordinated to the theme “The Azorean Communities”.
“The Azores and the Emigration”, “The Azoreans in Brazil and in Uruguay” and “The Azoreans in the United States of America” are subjects of the communications to present, respectively, by Gilberta Rocha, teacher of the University of the Azores, Vera Lúcia Barroso, teacher and historian of the University of Porto Alegre, Brazil, and António Goulart, of California.
Both the conference and the presentation of the Portal of the Azorean Communities are opened to the participation of the public.
