Regional Government shall submit to Parliament a detailed annual report on the support granted to private media
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stated today that the Government of the Azores shall submit a detailed report on the support granted to the private media on an annual basis, thus demonstrating his willingness to provide all the necessary clarifications on this matter at the Parliamentary Committee.
"This report will contain the identification of beneficiaries, the overall amount of support granted, the execution rate of the support scheme and the degree of compliance of the projects supported, among other aspects that the members of the assembly wish to include in the proposal under consideration," stressed Berto Messias. The government official spoke at the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Environment and Labour of the Legislative Assembly.
"We have maintained all support measures provided for in the previous programme. We have introduced several innovations that reinforce our commitment to the digital dimension by increasing and extending the support to the training of media agents. We have supported projects intended to facilitate the access of citizens with special needs to information," noted Berto Messias. The government official spoke at the hearing for the presentation of the new support scheme for the regional private media - Promedia 2020.
Digital development, support to information dissemination, access to information, training of media professionals, special support to production and support to initiatives designed to promote training and promotion of the Azores are the support measures listed in the proposal submitted to the Legislative Assembly.
Berto Messias also mentioned that the Analysis Committee "will be reformulated, both in terms of powers and in terms of composition. It is expected to become an analysis and monitoring committee."
"This body will be composed of the following members: a representative of the Azorean Government, a representative of the Union of Journalists, a representative of the Azores Consumer Defence Association, a representative of the Legislative Assembly elected by the plenary and a personality chosen by these four members," added the Regional Secretary.
