The Regional Government has put a draft proposal for Regional Legislative Decree under public consultation. It intends to introduce the first amendment to the Legal Framework on the Regional Support Programme for Private Media - PROMÉDIA 2020.
 
This proposed amendment arises from the Regional Budget for 2020, which provides for the submission of an amendment to PROMEDIA 2020 with the aim of "increasing support for emerging areas and projects in the Azores, with special emphasis on the support for digital development."
 
The Regional Government complies with the Budget provisions, proposing an “increase in the share of investments in the area of digital development” as well as in the “recruitment of professionals in the areas of digital and technological development to the staff of media organisations. Hence, these measures will further support private media in the Azores," through the "promotion of its technological and digital evolution."
