Regional Government announces increase in maximum age for access to Interjovem Card and renewal of cards already acquired for one year

The Regional Government, through the Office of the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs, Regional Directorate for Youth, has decided to implement a series of changes to the Interjovem Card. They are intended to ensure that, despite the constraints caused by the pandemic, which conditioned the seasonal maritime transport of passengers and vehicles operated by Atlânticoline in 2020, young people may continue to benefit from the advantages of this internal mobility tool this year as well as in 2021.

"The aim is to maintain the advantages of this important internal mobility tool for young people, while defining some new measures to mitigate the fact that, due to the pandemic, it will not be possible to carry out the seasonal maritime transport operations this year," said the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs.

"With the increase in the maximum age limit and the automatic renewal, those who intended to use the card this year for inter-island travelling will be able to do so next year under normal conditions, as we all hope," added Berto Messias.

Accordingly, it is defined that:

- The maximum age limit for acquiring the Interjovem Card is increased from 30 years, inclusive, to 31 years, inclusive, with this rule in effect until September 30, 2021;

- All Interjovem Cards issued as of September 30, 2019 will remain valid until September 30, 2021;

- The purchase of the card will be made exclusively through the Interjovem Card mobile application for smartphone/tablet, available for IOS and Android;

- With the exception of maritime travel within the seasonal operation, which is suspended this year, the Interjovem Card maintains all the existing advantages and benefits, which can be consulted on the Interjovem card portal at www.cartaointerjovem.com.

- Inter-island travel on Atlânticoline for the Central and Western group islands, according to the stipulated rules;

- Inter-island flights operated by SATA Air Azores, according to the stipulated rules:

- Free admission to museums of the Autonomous Region of the Azores;

- Free admission to the Natural Parks and Interpretation Centres of the Autonomous Region of the Azores;

- Benefits and discounts at companies and commercial establishments that are partners of the Interjovem Card on the various islands of the Azores listed on the online portal.
