Young Vacations Program stimulates Azorean youth for new services

The Regional Directorate for Youth approved the attribution of supports to 35 projects to develop, this summer, in the framework of the Young Vacations Program (“Programa Férias Jovens”), meant for stimulating the civic education, social integration and promotion of a direct contact of the youngest with nature.

The regional director for Youth participated, today, in one of the activities supported by the Program and developed by the Youth Space of the Development and Juvenile Education Centre - New Courses of Norte Crescente Association, which included a sea tour, with departure from the marina of Ponta Delgada.

Bruno Pacheco explained that this activity claimed to promote the social inclusion of the teenagers with fewer opportunities, promotion of healthy life styles and environmental education.

As he emphasized, the projects supported by the Young Vacations Program have the virtue of during a month reinforcing the competences of the youngsters, normally acquired in school environment and designated by methodologies of non formal education.

Another one of the added values of the Program has to do with the fact of being an alternative for the parents and guardians, who have no where to leave their children in the period of school interruptions, besides being an opportunity for the teenagers for acquiring new knowledges that may be useful in the future, he indicated.

For Bruno Pacheco, the Young Vacations Program, besides contributing for the local development of the places where it is developed, it allows the reinforcement of the educative areas of the programs of occupation of free times.
