Government aims to combine Youngsters’ Free Time Occupation with Healthy Living Habits
The 10th edition of the Capoeira Festival of São Miguel starts on April 27, a joint initiative of the Capoeira School of São Miguel and the Regional Directorate for Youth.
This festival will feature nearly 60 young participants and some Capoeira athletes from across the globe.
With the purpose of highlighting the developed work as well as the growth of this sport in the Azores, the Capoeira festival will be held during four days. The programme includes the organisation of workshops to the take place at the Rui Galvão de Carvalho School in Rabo de Peixe during the first three days. The certification-delivery ceremony will be held on the last day at the Cine Teatro Miramar.
By supporting this initiative, the Government of the Azores intends to promote the benefits of physical activity for health and well-being, extend the cultural events in the archipelago in addition to promoting civic education and participation in cultural, sports and recreational activities.
