The regional secretary for Agriculture and Forestry said not to understand “the criticism that have been done to the Government of the Azores on a plea silence in which it respects to the issue of the price of the milk paid to the regional producers”.
As Noé Rodrigues reaffirmed today, the secretary for Agriculture and Forestry “has been demonstrating for a long time, publicly, the discontent of the Government of the Azores on the readiness with which the industrialists of dairy products are getting ready to go down the price of the milk paid to the producer, alleging issues of international market, since, when the analysis to the markets was indicating conditions to increase the price of the milk, this increase was done in a slow and not much accentuated way”.
“Only the lack of attention, or the existence of other less noble purposes, is what will be able to explain the ignorance of the public and reiterated stands that the Government has been taking on this matter”, it advances the governor.
He still remembered that “such declarations of the regional secretary for Agriculture and Forestry were done several times and publicly before people in charge for the organizations of producers, producers and journalists”.
Noé Rodrigues even continued saying that for the most inattentive, the Government of the Azores “remembers that it has been effectuating periodically and well, with the representatives of the regional farmers, an analysis to the evolution of the markets of milk and of the dairy products and reiterates the need of the industries of dairy products to maintain the coherence whether it is the matter of increasing or of reducing the price of the milk paid to the regional producers, as well as of developing efforts, which is its obligation, to value the dairy products of the Azores in the markets”.
“The attention of the Government of the Azores always was and will keep on being turned for the profit of the producers and not for stubbornness between political parties, which in nothing favour one of the main sectors of the Azorean economy”, the regional secretary concludes.
