The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry awarded to a regional construction company the contract work for the "Construction of the Integrated Water Supply System to the in the POA (Agrarian Spatial Planning) of the Central Zone of São Miguel Island - Contendas Artificial Lake," a public investment of about 2.5 million Euros.
These interventions will reinforce the distribution of the integrated water supply to farms in the area of Contendas as well as to the Marquês and Vaçe Grande rural roads, benefiting 300 farms and over 1100 hectares of pasture.
In addition to improving the infrastructures to support agriculture, the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry said that the commitment of the department he oversees in the promotion of regional construction companies for the execution of such works, being "another contribution to the dynamics of the Azorean economy."
The works include the construction of an artificial lake, with a volume of 25,000 m3, a reservoir with a storage capacity of 500 m3, a water treatment station, 7.5 km of piping in Contendas and 150 individual lanes.
