The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry is going to publish, in September, a Decree creating aids to works for increase of the productivity of the agricultural grounds that will take into account the environmental control, with reduction of the impacts of the use of manure and fertilizers, and its correction.

The publication of the diploma with the new supports, previously referred by the president of the Government, was announced by the regional secretary for Agriculture and Forestry after a meeting, in Ponta Delgada, with the Direction of the Agricultural Association of São Miguel (AASM).

Noé Rodrigues added that for preparation of the Decree at issue there were heard the members of the representative organizations of the regional farmers.

As he added, in today’s meeting issues like the meat market were analysed, more specifically of the intervention that is being developed by the producers' organizations under the leadership of the AASM and that has been contributing to improve, in an accentuated way, the prices paid to the production and contributed to market the animals of the several islands of the archipelago.

In analysis there was, also, the evolution of the milk market and the distribution of quota to the producers, privileging the young farmers and the resize of the agricultural enterprises and guaranteeing bigger sustainability to their activity.

The increase of the profit of the producers that has been happening in the last years and the need of maintaining and of reinforcing the initiatives of vocational training of the professionals of the sector were other of the subjects in distinction in the meeting.
