Book on Recreational Forest Reserves in the Azores presented

There are 31 Recreational Reserves in the Azores, of which 27 have already been recovered through a large investment made by the Regional Government over the last 16 years. This project is also intended to raise the awareness of the population for the benefits of the forest.

In order to continue to promote these spaces, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry has supported the publication of a book with texts by Isabel Albergaria and images by José António Rodrigues, titled "Reservas Florestais de Recreio dos Açores" (Recreational Forest Reserves in the Azores).

During the presentation ceremony, held at the Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Centre, the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry stressed the investments made by the Azorean Government in forest as "we believe that these spaces represent the Azorean forest sector."

For Noé Rodrigues, "this book embodies everything we have accomplished in the Azores in conjunction with a group of technicians, forest guards and other parties involved. In fact, this book pays tribute to those who have worked and invested in the forest sector of the Azores, a beautiful land to live in."

The presentation of this book was part of the programme of the 6th Island Forest Days taking place on the island of Faial, Pico and São Jorge until Friday.
