The improvement of the infrastructures to support agriculture remains one of the main priorities of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry on all Azorean islands.
Noé Rodrigues presided on Tuesday over the opening ceremony of four water reservoir to supply farmers in the villages of São Pedro in the municipality of Ribeira Grande and in the villages of Achadinha and Achada, located in the municipality of Nordeste.
With these four water reservoirs, which have a capacity of 500 thousand litres, the Government of the Azores implements a public investment of 200 thousand Euros, benefitting nearly 70 farms.
On the occasion, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry highlighted the importance of these Governmental initiatives which improve the farmers’ working conditions, thus increasing the quality of their products and providing a subsequent raise in their income.
In addition to raising the farmers’ income, Noé Rodrigues also emphasised another priority of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry: the inclusion of local companies in undertakings in the agricultural sector, thereby improving their activity.
