Being integrated in the activity programme to raise environmental awareness “Azores Entre-Mares” (Azores Between-Seas) that takes place on all Azorean islands between May 20 (European Maritime Day) and June 8 (World Oceans Day), two cleaning actions will be held on the island of Santa Maria on June 4 and 8.These actions aim to remove waste from the coastal area of Praia Formosa and Baía dos Anjos, respectively.
In addition to being supported by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea, the cleaning actions also count upon the support of the Village Councils of Almagreira and Vila do Porto, the CADEP-CN (local Non-Governmental Organisation), the Almagreira and São Pedro Kindergarten and Basic Education Schools.
The villages of Almagreira and Vila do Porto have participated in the contest “Eco-Freguesia – freguesia limpa” (Eco-Village – clean village) and will use this activity to achieve the goals proposed by the jury that characterised these geographic units.
Those who wish to join these cleaning actions may obtain further information at their respective Village Council or at the Environment Services of Santa Maria.
