Six of the ten natural parks created by the Government of the Azores are already structured and ready to fulfil its educational and recreational functions.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Regional Secretary for the Environment and the Sea at the presentation of the Faial Island Park, a unit that served a test for the implementation of this initiative.
Of the nine island parks, to which a marine park will be added, only the structuring of this park and those on São Jorge, Flores and Terceira is still to be completed.
In the case of the park that was presented on Friday to the various entities and decision makers, after being presented to the business sector on Thursday night, Álamo Meneses stressed its diversity and inclusion of diverse spaces with installed signals and facilitated visitation.
The park allows the contact and interpretation of several aspects, ranging from the socio-economic activity to the animal and plant biodiversity, geology and other areas.
These themes and the location of the different spaces are available in a park guide, which was also presented on Friday.
Tourism, visitation, sport and leisure are some of the possibilities that this and other parks will provide to local residents and visitors from abroad.
