The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment has decided to increase the support to suckler cows, which represents an increase in the premium per animal and the extension of regional individual reserve rights. This measure was implemented in the context of the POSEI programme and meets the expectations of producers from the islands with greater potential for meat production.

Published in the Official Journal today, the ordinance establishes the new application rules for the regional reserve of suckler cow premium rights; the latter was increased by 300 Euros per animal. The legal document determines the allocation of a total of six thousand rights to Azorean farmers, corresponding to an overall sum of 1.8 million Euros.

Azorean producers may apply for this measure from today until January 30 at the local Agrarian Development Services.
