Milk recording service assured on all Azorean islands

The Regional Secretariat for Natural Resources assures the conduction of tests for milk recording, milk classification and the implementation of the Control Plan on Raw Milk in the archipelago, through the management of the resources of the entities under its jurisdiction.

Despite the failure in the machine installed at the Milk Classification Services (SERCLA) on Terceira Island on July 29 and contrary to the statements made by the local Agricultural Association, the conduction of tests for milk recording has never been in jeopardy on the Central and Western Group Islands.

In accordance with timely written information sent to agricultural associations and the local Agrarian Development Services, the Regional Veterinary Laboratory (LRV) has been assuring, without any constraint, the coordination of the collection and submission of samples and the reporting of results since August 1.

The Regional Secretariat for Natural Resources considers that the public position taken by the leader of the Terceira Agricultural Association is strange as the LRV has already carried out the somatic cell counting for samples collected on Terceira that were submitted by workers of this Association.

To date, the Regional Veterinary Laboratory has received samples from the islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge and Terceira, having conducted all tests and reported the respective results.
