The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea is going to promote on the 9th, 13th and 15th January in the islands of Faial, Terceira and S. Miguel, respectively, training course on management of packings and residues of packings as part of the integrated system managed by the Ponto Verde Society (SPV), which contributes to the initiative.
The course, in which 140 people already enroled, has as aim to increase the competences of the participants in the management of packings while agents of environmental promotion in the Azores and it is addressed, namely, at technicians of the autarchies, to supervisory entities, to the services of regional administration and to enterprises that produce packings or put products packed in the market.
The subjects to be broached have to do with the rules and practices of separation of the residues of packings by the different materials with aim at their recycling and the Verdoreca Sub-system.

In 2007, 6.630 tons of residues for recycling were gathered and exported from the Azores to the Continent and, in 2008, there was an addition of 19%, with 7.911 tons reached.
With the training initiative planned for the islands of S. Miguel, Terceira and Faial it is claimed to contribute to the environmental citizenship and to the sustainable development of our Region, promoting still more the selective gathering and the recycling of residues of packings in the archipelago.
