Government support environmental awareness raising activities developed by the Amigos dos Açores Association
The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea has provided the “Amigos dos Açores” Ecological Association with a financial support, the amount being of
89.695 Euros, to subsidise the costs of environmental awareness raising activities to be developed at the Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande “Ecotecas” (Environmental Awareness Raising Centres) on the island of S. Miguel.
In two orders published in the Official Journal on Wednesday, Álamo Meneses justifies the awarded support by the fact that these activities are “integrated in the priorities stipulated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea in the area of education and environmental promotion.”
He also added that the Government of the Azores “intends to continue the environmental promotion, education and awareness raising policies by reinforcing the implementation of the Regional “Ecotecas” Network.
Based on the village of Pico da Pedra, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, the “Amigos dos Açores” Ecological Association aims to develop several educational projects and activities throughout the year in the context of environmental awareness and promotion.
