The Regional Secretariat for Environment and Sea started carrying out the works that will lead to the Sector Plan for Extractive Activities (SEA) of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
With this plan, the government aims at guaranteeing an instrument for programming and undertaking the prospection and exploration policy of mineral and non-metallic resources, with special incidence on spatial planning, following the guidelines of the Regional Spatial Planning Programme of the Azores, just recently approved.
After the tender, the SEA has been adjudicated to the DHV, S.A. company for the amount of 218 thousand Euros. The Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning and Hydric Resources will be in charge of the work coordination. The plan proposal will also count on the collaboration of a follow-up commission composed of several regional and local public administration representatives, besides other entities connected to this field.
