Government invests in training of qualified experts for energy certification of buildings

The Regional Directorate for Energy promotes the organisation of an intensive training course for Qualified RCCTE Experts to implement the System of Energy Certification of Buildings (SCE) in the Azores, which will enter into force in January 2010 for new the buildings and in June for the existing buildings.
This course was designed in cooperation with the Portuguese Energy Agency (ADENE), the National Scientific Coordinator of the Energetic Certification System, Eduardo Maldonado, and the Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (ARENA).
The expansion of the number of Qualified Experts will enable the implementation of energy certification in buildings on the nine islands of the Archipelago, providing the building’s energy classification to builders, buyers and tenants.
The Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and the Chamber of Commerce of Angra do Heroísmo in a partnership with the Regional Directorate for Energy are und undertaking an intense effort to promote this training course in order to recruit a large number of trainees from the various Azorean islands.
The course will be simultaneously held in Ponta Delgada and Angra do Heroísmo during the month of November and will allow trainees the access to the certification exam taken at the end of the course, thus avoiding the intermediate exam on technical modules.
The correction will be carried out under an exception scheme and ted he results will be publish a week after its completion, with a correction session attended by trainees where they will become acquainted with the mistakes made. The trainees that fail the exam may repeat it a week after the monitored correction. Moreover, the course will comprise an extensive component regarding the resolution of practical exercises, thereby complementing the theoretical training with a practical component.
The Regional Directorate for Energy funds, in cooperation with the ADNE, the organisation of this training course. Trainees must only pay the amount corresponding to the repetition of the exam when necessary.
The operational coordination of this course is being carried out, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate for Energy, by ARENA and the Chamber of Commerce of Angra do Heroísmo. Registrations are available at these entities.
