Government improves citizens’ accessibility to services in the area of environment

Any person or entity with an Internet connection may access, from now onwards, to the various services provided by the Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea.

This improvement in the accessibility to services in the area of environment is the result of the operationalisation of the Integrated System of Online Services for the Spatial Planning and Territorial Information (DO.IT) which was presented by the Regional Secretary for the Environment and the Sea in Horta on Thursday.

For Álamo Meneses, this “relocation of environment services” represents for citizens a great improvement in terms of accessibility, as “we may now access to an environment service at home in the Azores, which is available for any person or institution with Internet access.”

The Regional Secretary also considered that the benefits of this improved accessibility are clear and reminded that many of the citizens’ requests that concern the environment services can now be made “anytime, anywhere, without being subject to calendars or services.”

Available at: http://servicos.sram.azores.gov.pt, this software application aims to facilitate and enhance the relations between citizens and all public and private entities, with the regional administration in various areas, such as nature conservation, spatial planning, water resources, energy and fisheries.

With the service presented on Thursday, which is also available through the portal of the Integrated Network for Citizens Support (RIAC), the Government wants to contribute to the simplification of internal processes, thus becoming an interactive platform for the circulation and uniformity of procedures within the regional public administration and allowing requesters to monitor the status of their requests through private work area, accessible via Web.

Registration of people, entities and infrastructures, licensing and certification requests, submission of environmental reports, participation in public events and access to incentive programs and membership events are some of the different services available by DO.IT at this stage.

With the launching of this new platform, the Government will also provide the public with the IN MY ISLAND service (http://servicos.sram.azores.gov.pt/naminhailha) for the submission of any information on environmental issues identified in every part of the archipelago.

For such, one has to select the site in question from a geographical database and fill the respective form, which is automatically forwarded to the main services of the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea.

In addition to these tools, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea is also about to establish the Regional Territorial Information System to disseminated all territorial management tools of the Azores via Web.
