Álamo Meneses spoke at the end of a meeting with the Nature Conservation Service and stressed that the Azores have “a great responsibility” in these matters and therefore this legislative revision is essential.
The Board of the Nature Conservation Services, with whom the Regional Secretary had just met, “is preparing a global revision of the legislative framework on biodiversity and nature conservation in the Azores, encompassing the Community directives” that have been recently issued, stated the Regional Secretary.
“It is highly complex work that is being carried out and we hope that this year, which is the International Year of Biodiversity, the Region contributes to this effort that is being undertaken worldwide.
