Welcome to the page of the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources

The Regional Directorate for Forest Resources is the operational service of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry responsible for supporting the Regional Secretary in the definition of the planning policy, development and use of forest, hunting and inland fishing resources of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.     

The Regional Directorate for Forest Resources provides the following services: Regional Directorate of Forest Services, which integrates the Division of Hunting, Fisheries and Parks, the Division of Support to the Forest Sector and the Administrative, Financial and Planning Division.

The Regional Directorate for Forest Resources also integrates the following operational services:
- Forest Service of Ponta Delgada;
- Forest Service of Nordeste;
- Forest Service of Nordeste;
- Forest Service of Pico;
- Forest Service of Faial;
- Forest Service of São Jorge;
- Forest Service of Flores and Corvo;
- Forest Service of Santa Maria;
- Forest Service of Graciosa.

The mission of the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources is to ensure a rational use of the Region’s forest and natural resources by coordinating, monitoring and providing technical guidance to forest exploitation as well as by developing studies to promote the genetic improvement of forest species and to use new species that will diversify the Azorean forest. 

On the other hand, the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources also aims to maintain and benefit the rural and forest road networks, thus facilitating the entry of production inputs and the output of farm products.  

The Regional Directorate for Forest Resources is in charge of the management of the hunting and inland fishing resources of the Region, taking measures to promote a rational use of these resources and simultaneously assuring the preservation of those same species.
