The President of the Government stated today in Santa Cruz that investments such as the new facilities of Graciosa Cooperative Winery fall within the Government's strategy to provide the archipelago with the necessary conditions so that they can create more jobs and generate more wealth.
 
Vasco Cordeiro spoke to journalists after having visited the remodelling and expansion works, which are already in their final phase, a global investment of about 1.4 million Euros supported by ProRural.
 
These new facilities include specific areas for wine production, but also for the processing of cantaloupe melon, honey and garlic.
 
Vasco Cordeiro stressed that the Regional Government's strategy provides for the creation and support of infrastructures that will "render the island's endogenous production profitable as well as its ability to generate added value and employment."
 
In this context, the President of the Government pointed out the ongoing construction of the new Slaughterhouse on Graciosa and the protocol signed Tuesday with the Portuguese Institute of Rheumatology for the provision of medical services at Carapacho Thermal Spa are some examples that fall within this strategy.
 
"This is also where this strategy of creating conditions, starting from the economic level, for the creation of wealth and employment on the island," said Vasco Cordeiro. He announced that the Council of the Government, which met Tuesday night in Santa Cruz, has taken deliberations regarding the technical support to be granted to the Winery and the Cooperative.
 
"It will not be for lack of governmental support that the Graciosa Cooperative will not have technical staff," said Vasco Cordeiro.
