Vasco Cordeiro calls Strategic Concertation Council to analyse Plan and Budget with social partners
The President of the Government has called a meeting of the Regional Strategic Concertation Council with the aim of presenting and analysing, in accordance with legally stipulated calendar, the proposal for Plan and Budget for next year to be presented at the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores. The meeting will take place in Ponta Delgada next Wednesday.
The meeting of the Regional Strategic Concertation Council in the areas of economic, social and environmental policies, which includes representatives of social partners in the Region, will take place following the Council of the Government; the latter meets Tuesday to approve the draft proposals of the budget planning documents and public investment to be made in 2016, the last year of the current legislative period.
On September 11, Vasco Cordeiro heard social partners and political parties on the preparation of proposals. The President of the Government received CGTP/Açores, UGT/Açores, the Azores Fisheries Federation, the Azores Agricultural Federation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores as well as the representatives of PCP, BE, CDS/PP, PSD and PS; PPM refused to attend the meeting.
After this round of hearings, held in Ponta Delgada, the President of the Government stated that the course and the strategy developed over the last three years have yielded results for the benefit of Azorean families and companies, which encourage the Regional Government to meet the challenges arising in this last year of the current legislative period.
The Regional Strategic Concertation Council includes representatives of workers, employers, fisheries and agriculture sectors, local authorities, private social solidarity institutions as well as associations in the area of consumer protection, environment protection, equality of opportunities for women and men of the University of the Azores, as well as representatives. In addition, this body also includes the University of the Azores, the representatives of the Azores in the Economic and Social Council and three personalities in the areas of competence of the Council.
In early November, the Government will present its proposal for Plan and Budget at the Legislative Assembly in order to be discussed and voted at the plenary session.
