University of the Azores and Portuguese World Language Institute honour Carlos César
The University of the Azores and the Portuguese World Language Institute (PWLInstitute), based in Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, being the institutions responsible for organising the Celebration of Portuguese Language and Culture in North America, have chosen the President of the Regional Government as the Portuguese personality to be honoured during the Banquet of the Holy Spirit Festivities in New England.
The jury of event decided to award this distinction in the category of Institutional Support to Portuguese Language, bearing in mind the contribution given by the President of the Regional Government in recent decades, promoting and dignifying the teaching of Portuguese language and culture in the USA, Canada and Bermuda.
The distinction, which will correspond to the height of the activities carried out under the Celebration of Portuguese Language and Culture in North America, will take place during the Closing Gala of the Holy Spirit Festivities in New England on August 30. One should remind that the Organisation of the Holy Spirit Festivities has focused on the teaching of Portuguese language this year, being, thus, a privileged partner in some activities of the Celebration programme.
