The construction of the new Hospital and all the major works planned for Terceira Island are guaranteed
On Tuesday, the President of the Government assured that the process for the construction of a New Hospital in Angra do Heroísmo is being carried out according to the legal proceedings, allowing the existence of conditions to move forward with the works in the first half of this year.
Carlos César spoke at the Legislative Assembly during the discussion of the Medium-term Guidelines for 2009-2012 and the Regional Investment and Budget Plan for 2009, and added that the works will be awarded and should be concluded twenty-two months later.
In any case, the difficulties of accessing baking credit which the intervenient companies had have prevented the process from being in a more advanced stage of development. At the present moment, these difficulties are being overcome.
Having in mind the other major works planned for Terceira Island, the President said that the period for the acceptance of proposals for the construction of an Exhibition Park has already started, for that reason its awarding will take place soon. A public call for tenders has already been launch for the expansion of the Angra Voluntary Fire Brigade fire station, with the President pointing out that the expansion of the facilities was an option of the corporation itself. The works for the construction of the Regional Veterinary Laboratory have also been awarded, and finally, in April, the first stone for construction of the new Public Library and Regional Archive of Angra do Heroísmo will be laid.
